PSG overturn Stade Brestois before hosting Girona in C1

PSG dominated Stade Brestois (3-1) this Saturday evening at the Parc des Princes, during the 4th day of Ligue 1 thanks to a great performance from Ousmane Dembélé.

Paris Saint-Germain hosted Stade Brestois this Saturday evening, on the Parc des Princes pitch, during the 4th day of Ligue 1. A fairly important match for both teams, as the Champions League launch approaches. A nice test for the 22 players of the evening. It was therefore a special encounter since this poster comes a few days before their respective C1 matches: PSG will play against Girona at home on Wednesday, while Brest will play in Brittany against Sturm Graz.

In the first half, the Red and Blue started very strongly with multiple chances. On a cross, Nuno Mendes was found at the far post and took the ball in the area but his volley was pushed back by Bizot on the ground (7th). The Parisians continued to push through Hakimi. On an overflow, the Moroccan tried another low cross. Marco Asensio threw himself to push it into the back of the net but he missed by a few centimetres to take the ball back (9th). On a service from the right side, João Neves was found on the left side of the area by Dembélé. The Portuguese midfielder took the time to adjust his shot but Bizot got down to push the shot back (13th). Then, the Bretons tried to get their heads above water. Eric Roy’s players tried to get back into action, particularly with Sima. And in a dazzling move, Nuno Mendes caught Ludovic Ajorque’s jersey and he collapsed (27th). A penalty converted by Romain Del Castillo (28th, 0-1). After a superb combination between Ruiz and Kang-in Lee, the Bretons recovered the ball before giving the ball directly to the Parisians. Barcola took the ball, overflowed on the left side and found Asensio. The latter centered at the far post in time. Dembélé came at full speed to place a header with a rebound (41st, 1-1).

Paris seeks the breach then unrolls…

In the second half, PSG continued to put their foot on the ball and wanted to accelerate in this restart by dominating Brest. Even if Paris was still dominating, the pace was much slower. It lacked madness in the Parisian offensive sequences. Served on the left side, Marco Asensio placed a formidable ball to deceive Bizot. He was unfortunately flagged for offside. It was Fabian Ruiz who delivered the Parc des Princes with a super-powerful shot into the top corner at the edge of the area (73rd, 2-1). PSG followed up quickly. On the action that followed, Kolo Muani was served quickly, cleared his opposite number and attempted a shot that was deflected. The ball came back to Ousmane Dembélé who took his time to place it in the back of the net, definitively putting his team in the clear (74th, 3-1). Enough to lock in the Parisian victory (3-1)

With this result, PSG remains undefeated in the competition. Better still, the Parisians officially lead the Ligue 1 standings, while Stade Brestois is 12th. Next weekend, Paris will face Reims, while Brest will host Toulouse, during the 5th day of the French championship.
