“AC Monza announces that it has relieved Alessandro Nesta of his role as First Team coach. The Club thanks the coach for what he has done so far and wishes him the best for the future“. This is the statement with which the Brianza club formalizes the coach's dismissal: the last defeat in the championship against Juventus at the U-Power Stadium was fatal. Monza is currently last in the standings with 10 points collected in 17 games championship (the last success dates back to 21 October against Verona).
Nozzles on pole for replacement
The name on pole as Alessandro Nesta's successor, at the moment, is that of Salvatore Bocchetti.
Bocchetti's experience in Verona
The former Genoa and Milan defender, born in 1986, was promoted to coach of the Verona first team in October 2022, after Cioffi's dismissal, which at that time was in third-to-last place, as it did not have a UEFA qualification Pro required to coach in Serie A, the exemption is granted for only one month. Despite the defeat on his debut against Milan, on 20 October he renewed his contract with the yellow and blue until 2027. Another 5 consecutive defeats followed and, having expired in the meantime the exemption granted to him, from 4 December Verona chose Marco Zaffaroni as head coach, supported by Bocchetti himself at the helm of the team. The two finish the regular season in third-last place, equal on points with Spezia, but Verona maintains the category by winning the play-off match with a result of 3-1.
