At least two people have been confirmed dead so far in the attack at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, including a child. I would like to thank all the emergency services who are taking care of the injured on site,” the leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) wrote on Friedrich Merz. Chancellor Olaf Scholz also commented on the story on X.
“Reports from Magdeburg suggest that something bad has happened. My thoughts are with the victims and their families. We are at their side and close to the people of Magdeburg. My thanks go to the rescuers involved in these anxious hours,” wrote the chancellor.
“I am deeply shocked by the brutal attack that targeted the defenseless crowd at the Christmas market in Magdeburg. I am close, with the entire government, to the families of the victims, the injured and all the German people. Violence must have no place in our democracies” declared the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni.
“We are following, and from the images we have it seems like an attack. It seems there are eleven dead and 60 injured. But it is an approximate figure. We have to wait for official news. We are following up, but at the moment there are no Italians involved.” This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, speaking with reporters, in Montecitorio, about the car that crashed into a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany.
