The programs developed by the Agency for the Economy and Energy Management (AEME) made it possible to achieve gains of 16.858 billion CFA francs and avoid nearly 55,000 tonnes of CO2 between 2015 and 2023, declared Abdou Karim Sarr during a capacity building workshop initiated by the Senegalese Federation of Consumer Associations (FESAC), on the theme “consumer empowerment through to clean energy transitions.
According to the head of the AEME evaluation subdivision, Abdou Karim Sarr, “the four programs including the upgrading of building energy, general lighting, communication, training, quality control, developed between 2015 and 2023, made it possible to achieve gains of 77,850 gigawatts, 16.858 billion FCFA and to avoid nearly 55,000 tonnes of CO2.
For his part, the president of the board of directors of the Senegalese Federation of Consumer Associations, Maguette Fall added that “consumers would benefit more and more from having the right information which allows them to save money and that it is necessary , further amplify this movement, by moving in the direction of making savings, of producing first of all in a healthy way, of preventing our environment from being truly polluted by a certain number of tools and practices.
For Mr. Fall, reports the Aps, “there is no reason why priority should be given to fossil fuels”. He also recommended the use of local languages to reach the majority of Senegalese consumers, while wishing for the development and implementation of information, education and communication plans, for a change in behavior at the level consumers.
