???? Thibaut Courtois and Real Madrid win the Intercontinental Cup and make a little more history – All football

The Lusail Stadium (Qatar) hosted the final of the Intercontinental Cup between Real Madrid and Pachuca (Mexico).

Qualified directly for the final of the Intercontinental Cup, Real Madrid and Thibault Courtois faced the surprise of the competition. Indeed, the Mexicans of Pachuca qualified after crushing Botafogo (3-0) then eliminating the Egyptians of Al-Ahly on penalties.

Unfortunately for them, they were no match for the juggernaut Real Madrid, already the most successful club in the competition, which is now ahead of FC Barcelona. Kylian Mbappé (37th) took advantage of a caviar from Vinícius Júnior to launch Real and reward Spanish domination.

After the break, Rodrygo allowed Real to take the lead by doubling the score. The Brazilian scored a very nice goal eliminating two players before beating Moreno (53rd). At the end of the game, Vinícius Júnior scored his own goal and fixed the final score at 3-0 by converting a penalty (84th).

Apart from a few alerts, Thibaut Courtois had a fairly quiet evening overall and now adds a new title to his (already) fine record under the colors of Real Madrid. The club won its 6th Intercontinental Cup, its 2nd trophy of the season after the European Super Cup.
