Atalanta forces 6, Cesena greets the cup at the Gewiss Stadium

Rimini and the cup, a feeling that shows no signs of fading year after year: the red and whites gave continuity to the qualifications for the round of 16 two seasons ago and to the semi-finals of last edition with another pass snatched for the penultimate act in this competition , the one won at home by the Apulian Team Altamura. The game broke the deadlock in the 17th minute, when Falbo kicked from outside the area and surprised goalkeeper Pane with an apparently harmless shot, but made unstoppable by a deceptive rebound. The advantage lights up the match and forces the Apulians to raise the pace: Altamura responds decisively, creating numerous opportunities to equalize. Rolando, Acampa and Bumbu become protagonists, but find Vitali in great shape on their way, author of prodigious interventions that keep Rimini on their feet. The guests then risk capitulating when Bumbu deposits it into the net but the goal is disallowed due to a dubious offside by Leonetti. In the 46th minute, however, Altamura found the equalizer with an unfortunate own goal by Lepri, who deflected Leonetti’s cross into his own net, bringing the teams level at half-time at 1-1. In the second half, the match remained intense and close. Rimini brings in three fundamental players such as Megelaitis, Cioffi and Parigi and comes close to scoring several times with its new attacking pair, who however are unable to materialize some great opportunities, including a sensational goal for Cioffi in the 69th minute, which was wasted with an oversized shot. Altamura, for its part, does not stand by and watch: a powerful shot from Acampa, deflected onto the crossbar by Megelaitis, makes the Romagna tremble, but the red and white defense holds up. But just as the game was heading towards extra time, the decisive blow arrived: in the 90th minute, Parigi, good at exploiting a favorable rebound generated by Falbo’s pressing, found himself in a regular position and with a surgical left-footed shot beat Pane, putting the ball into the opposite corner. The goal unleashes the joy of the Rimini players and the fans present, confirming a hard-fought victory that extends the march of the red and whites in this event.
