A YouTube channel offers a very realistic rendering of the supposed design of the iPhone 17. Its proximity to the design of the Google Pixel is debated.
The iPhone 17 is expected to adopt a completely new camera design from Apple. In any case, this is the most popular theory among the rumors and leaks concerning the next generation of iPhone, scheduled for the end of 2025.
To better project this new design, the Russian YouTube channel Wylsacom published a video of a very realistic 3D rendering of what the iPhone 17 could be.
A device inspired by Google
It must be said that the design of the iPhone camera has not evolved since the iPhone 11 Pro launched in 2019. After six years, changing the aesthetics of the product can push for renewal among the faithful of the brand.
With the iPhone 17, we would put an end to the photo module which makes the smartphone wobbly when it is placed on its back. We would rather be entitled to a completely horizontal camera as Google can offer on its Pixel 8 or Pixel 9. This would not be the first time that Apple has taken inspiration from Google.
Beyond the change in design balance, this change should have a real impact on the camera’s capabilities. Indeed, here the cameras will benefit from a new wider spacing, which will facilitate stereoscopic capture. Apple will be able to highlight this function to associate it with the Vision Pro.
This choice could have other advantages in terms of internal design, to integrate better lenses and sensors on the iPhone.
Design is debated
On social networks, the first feedback regarding this design does not seem to be unanimous. Obviously, we will have to wait to see the final rendering if it is confirmed by Apple, rather than simple 3D renderings made by fans.

First of all, the official Google France account on X made fun of the situation by looking suspiciously at the supposed design of the iPhone 17.
The subject of the debate is also between the idea of a photo module where each lens is clearly identifiable, like the contemporary design of the iPhone, or a more unified design like the Pixel where the lenses are melted into a large dark block.

On X, Ben Geskin leans more in favor of the latter choice. It also highlights the ease of cleaning induced by this design choice.
It is true that the current iPhone device is a little more complex to clean, particularly in terms of the space between the lenses.
The leaks should become clearer in the coming months, pending a presentation planned for September alongside the iPhone 17 Air, a new ultra-thin model.
