| Italian Cup | Juventus-Cagliari 4-0 | Goals by Vlahovic, Koopmeiners, Conceiçao, Nico Gonzalez

Now there is no longer any doubt: Juventus likes the Cups more than the Championship. This evening, Tuesday 17 December 2024, the Bianconeri beat XX Cagliari in the match valid for the round of 16 of the Italian Cup. A success marked by Vlahovic, Koopmeiners, Conceiçao and Nico Gonzalez and which now projects the “Old Lady” to the match at the beginning of February 2025 against Empoli.

Motta chooses 4-2-3-1 with Di Gregorio in goal; four-man defense with Savona, Locatelli, Kalulu and McKennie; midfield with Koopmeiners and Thuram; on the frontline Conceiçao, Yildiz and Mbangula with Vlahovic as the sole striker.

In the first half of the game Cagliari started better and came close to taking the lead after a minute with Lapadula but his low shot found a very attentive Di Gregorio.

In the 23rd minute it was Wieteska who saved from Yildiz and avoided capitulation for the Sardinians. After a near post in the 27th minute by Conceiçao, in the 44th minute Juve took the lead through Vlahovic: Mbangula fed Yildiz who in turn fed the Serbian attacker who turned, kicked, caught the inside post and then was finally able to celebrate.

In the second half it was immediately 2-0, in the 53rd minute, with a masterful free kick from 30 meters by Koopmeiners. Two minutes later and the hat-trick would also arrive with Vlahovic but the goal was annulled due to offside by the same attacker.

In the 58th minute Gatti comes on instead of Koopmeiners who comes out to the applause of the Stadium: now Motta “covers”.

After a curling shot from Yildiz, well saved by Scuffet in the 62nd minute, Juve made their second substitution in the 66th minute: Nico Gonzalez came on in place of the same Turkish attacking midfielder.

In the 71st minute Vlahovic’s second goal was disallowed, again for offside. But the third goal is in the air and it is Conceiçao who scores it – with an assist from Nico Gonzalez – one of the best of the whole team.

In the 81st minute the last changes for Juve with Adzic and Weah taking the place of Conceiçao and Vlahovic.

Is it over here? No. Because in the 89th minute a lob from Nico Gonzalez fixed the score at 4-0. A goal that warms the hearts of Juventus fans and propels Juventus to the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup.
