ATTLNH: Anthony Stolarz sidelined 4 to 6 weeks

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Tuesday that goaltender Anthony Stolarz will be sidelined for a period of four to six weeks.

Medical tests revealed no structural damage to his knee, but he will still need surgery to remove a bone fragment that looks “like a little rock” according to general manager Brad Treliving.

Stolarz was injured last Thursday during the game against the Anaheim Ducks.

Hedman back?

Tampa Bay Lightning captain Victor Hedman is reportedly set to return to action tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets, after missing his team’s previous two games.

The 33-year-old defender has a record of four goals, 21 assists and a plus-4 rating this season.

Tampa also recalled defenseman Declan Carlile from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League on Tuesday.

From waiver to a 2-year contract

The Calgary Flames signed a two-year, $2.375 million contract extension to defenseman Brayden Pachal on Tuesday.

Pachal, who is 25, played 31 games for the Flames this season, recording one goal and one assist.

Undrafted into the NHL after a five-year career in the Western Junior League (WHL), Pachal signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Vegas Golden Knights in September 2019. He won the Stanley Cup with Vegas in 2023.

He was claimed off waivers by Calgary on February 4, 2024.

The Estevan, Saskatchewan native has appeared in 93 career NHL games, scoring three goals and recording 11 points with the Golden Knights and Flames.
