Mediapart will in turn leave the social network X at the beginning of 2025

After the departure of several media outlets, Mediapart announced that it would no longer intervene on Elon Musk’s social network.

The bleeding continues. After several newspapers, the investigative site Mediapart announced Tuesday that it would leave on January 20 the social network X of American billionaire Elon Musk, which it said had become a “weapon of massive disinformation”. January 20 was chosen as the departure date by Mediapart because it is the date when US President-elect Donald Trump takes office. He appointed Elon Musk to head a ministry of“governmental efficiency”.

“Mediapart refuses to serve the cause of the enemies of journalism and the general interest”proclaims Carine Fouteau, president and director of publication of the media marked on the left, in a column on her site. Already in November, the British dailies The Guardian, then the Spanish La Vanguardia and the Swedish Dagens Nyheter announced that they would no longer publish content on part of a wave of growing disaffection with this social network.
