On December 31, 2024, feminists plan to organize a Freedom Day sit-in with a nude dress code. They are angry at the culture of rape and want the application of the Maputo protocol which also guarantees for women the right to education and training for economic and social well-being, the right to health including sexual and reproductive health, the right to food security, the right to adequate housing, the right to employment among others.
Feminist Amy Libain Mbengue contacted by Seneweb confirms the information and specifies: “It is not the collective which is at the origin of the initiative, but a larger group. We will do this sit-in as the women of Casamance did in 2023 to demand strong and urgent measures to protect the women and girls of this country. We want the Family Code to change, for the Maputo Protocol to be applied and for there to be real measures to fight against rape and child crime in Senegal. »
Do you confirm the nude dress code as announced in the poster, Ms. Mbengue? ” Yes, I confirm. »
For the moment, the location which will host this event remains unknown.
