“It hasn’t been an easy day,” he said from the outset during the evening which brought together the party’s big donors at the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau.
Rich Montreal businessman Steven Bronfman briefly shared the stage with him.
Justin Trudeau indeed experienced one of the most difficult days of his reign as Liberal leader on Monday.
The resounding resignation of former Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland has put her leadership back at the heart of the news.
Several of his deputies called for his head and ministers refused to clearly say whether they still placed their trust in him.
In his speech, Mr. Trudeau maintained that being “prime minister is the greatest privilege.”
“I love Canadians. I love Canada. I love him deeply. The Canadians have my complete confidence. And I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else,” he said.
