Omar Diop, director of sanitation at the Ministry of Hydraulics and Sanitation, announced this Monday that the sanitation work underway in Touba (center) undertaken in the religious city by the National Sanitation Office of Senegal (ONAS) will be completed before the start of the next winter season. He made the announcement in front of journalists after an audience with the Caliph General of the Mourides, Serigne Mountakha Mbacké, reports Aps.
“After the discussions that we had with the actors who work in sanitation in Touba such as the town hall, Hizbut-Tarqiyyah and the Touba Ça Kanam association, the mayor sent the Minister of Hydraulics and Sanitation the report which establishes the emergency work to be carried out in view of the 2025 winter period,” he recalled.
He noted that it was following a meeting held in Dakar that the minister instructed his services to complete the work before the next winter. According to him, these include, among other things, the pipeline work underway in several neighborhoods to facilitate the evacuation of rainwater and also the imminent completion of work aimed at strengthening the evacuation of rainwater from the great mosque of Touba. in Keur Niang.
