the historic sale of private souvenirs of General de Gaulle sparks

Nine months after the death of Admiral de Gaulle, his son, the massive sale of the 372 lots that belonged to Charles de Gaulle was a success on Monday. All lots were sold after eight hours of sales. The State was very active, with 135 preemptions.

Many fans of General de Gaulle, an illustrious figure of , paid a final tribute this Monday at Artcurial, in the Hôtel Marcel Dassault, at the Champs-Élysées roundabout. Collectors, historians, emissaries from museums and institutions, curious people of all stripes spared no effort, for more than eight hours, to bid on the 372 lots which were located in the apartment at 16e district of Admiral Philippe de Gaulle, who died nine months ago, at the age of 102. Estimated at around one million euros, the result of this succession with a historic pedigree far exceeded expectations, reaching 5.6 million euros. The General's name alone was enough to boost bids for his historical documents and personal items carefully guarded for decades by his family.

Until the end the decision to sell, taken by the admiral's four children, Charles, Yves, Pierre and Jean, never stopped…
