A Xinhua photographer at the scene saw the bloodied bodies of the dead and injured in the rubble of the top floor of the school, which belongs to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA).
The Israeli military has not yet commented on the attack.
In central Gaza, four Civil Defense personnel, including a journalist, were killed in an airstrike on an emergency post in the Nuseirat refugee camp, sources said.
In a statement released later in the day, the Israeli military said its air force attacked the Nuseirat camp to neutralize a site “used by terrorists” to plan and carry out attacks against the forces. Israeli defense systems.■
