The presidency of Diomaye Faye seems to want to put in place a strict rationalization of political parties. According to the newspaper, this approach is part of a global strategy for cleaning up public spaces. Currently, the country has nearly 400 political organizations, a figure that could significantly decrease if the laws were rigorously enforced.

Maguèye Kassé of the Independence and Labor Party (Pit) estimates that the strict application of legal rules could reduce this number to less than 200. These rules include the regular functioning of internal bodies and financial transparency, obligations rarely respected even by the major parties, underlines Ousmane Badiane of the Democratic League (Ld).
