The prosecution had requested their placement in pre-trial detention. The judge of freedoms and detention did not hear it that way.
The five suspects referred to Nice following an attack in the old town were released at the end of Saturday evening, informs the public prosecutor Damien Martinelli.
They will appear free at the bar, this Tuesday, December 17before the criminal court.
These men, aged 27 to 34, were arrested during the night of Thursday to Friday, following a scene of violence that occurred on rue de la Préfecture, right next to the courthouse. Two off-duty police officers were beaten, including on the ground.
According to them, one of the officials mentioned his position during an altercation.
Instead of calming the spirits, this would have sparked an outbreak of violence.
The arrested suspects will undoubtedly give a very different version. They would have generally contested the facts.
They will nevertheless respond to aggravated violence, in meetings and against police officers.
The two victims have four days of ITT (total incapacity for work).
