Organized by the “Oued Eddahab association for maritime fishing and environmental protection” and the “Khalij Dakhla” network for climate and sustainable development, this meeting was an opportunity to engage in in-depth reflection, debate means to ensure sustainable development of the bay of Oued Eddahab, and to discuss the challenges it faces.
This meeting also aims to identify the environmental challenges linked to the bay of Oued Eddahab, and to adopt solutions guaranteeing the valorization of the resources of this ecological ecosystem and the promotion of sustainable and inclusive development.
The president of the Oued Eddahab association for maritime fishing and environmental protection, Mbark Hamia, indicated that this meeting aims to highlight the bay of Oued Eddahab, classified in the convention relating to wetlands (RAMSAR ), underlining the importance of taking all necessary measures to preserve the environment of this exceptional natural site.
For his part, the president of the “Khalij Dakhla (Bay of Dakhla)” Network for climate and sustainable development, Mohamed Idass, indicated that this meeting constitutes a platform for collective reflection in order to find sustainable solutions for the Bay of Dakhla. Oued Eddahab and to promote its natural and economic potential, emphasizing the need for the combined efforts of all stakeholders.
For his part, the director of the laboratory of geomorphology, environment and society under the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences of Marrakech, Mohamed Mansoum, indicated that the preservation of the bay of Dakhla now remains an absolute necessity, given that This ecological site is the pillar of sustainable development in this region.
On the menu of this meeting is a series of themes relating in particular to “The bay of Oued Eddahab: Natural, economic and human potential in the service of sustainable development”, “Planning and sustainability of the bay of Oued Eddahab”, “The environmental dimension in the master plan for the development of the bay of Oued Eddahab”, and “Integrated management of the Atlantic coasts of the Moroccan Sahara: challenges and perspectives”.
