SWISS ICE HOCKEY GAMES – Switzerland beaten again

In the first third, Switzerland conceded both goals and lost in front of the 6,142 spectators at the BCF Arena against the Czech world champions.

After a balanced start, Switzerland had a golden opportunity in the sixth minute. Magnificently launched by Denis Malgin, Fabrice Herzog went to meet the Czech goalkeeper Simon Zajicek, but did not succeed in his dribble. Shortly after, Sven Andrighetto also failed to free himself. The Czechs took a 1:0 lead in the twelfth minute through Filip Zadina, almost on their first chance. Shortly before the end of the third, it was again the world champion who was able to exult thanks to a player from Davos. Matej Stransky made it 2:0 from close range.

During a lively middle third with chances from both sides, no further goals were scored. Switzerland showed a clear improvement in their performance, played straight and pushed for the equalizer, especially in the last five minutes. The best chances were offered by Grégory Hofmann (35th) and Andrighetto (39th). In defense, the Swiss acted in a concentrated manner and with the necessary toughness, and even overcame a 2+2 minute penalty against Ken Jäger.

Switzerland also tried to score in the final third. Patrick Fischer’s team played pleasantly, but found too few offensive solutions and lacked composure, which is why the defeat remained 0:2.

Thanks to their breakout game victory in Pardubice against Finland (3:1) and their complete success against Switzerland today, the Czechs are currently at the top of the standings for the SWISS Ice Hockey Games 2024.

Switzerland will play its last match of the SWISS Ice Hockey Games tomorrow, Sunday December 15, 2024, at 3:30 p.m. against Finland.
