Layoffs occurring in several companies following the appointment of new general managers and administrators continue. After the Autonomous Port of Dakar where the new CEO, Waly Diouf Bodian, terminated 700 contracts, it is around the Priority Investment Guarantee Fund (FONGIP) to take over. Several agents whose absences predate the appointment of Ndèye Fatou Mbodji, and for some, for a few days, have been dismissed. According to Ms. Mbodji, the dismissed people did not provide supporting documents to the requests for explanations addressed to them.
According to sources from the newspaper Les Echos, certain people receive requests for explanations and when they respond or justify themselves, they are invited to contact the human resources department.
“Some agents were dismissed because they were only absent for a few days, not under the leadership of Ndèye Fatou Mbodji, but during the time of his predecessors,” the same sources whispered.
Who added: “requests for explanations have become grounds for dismissals”. Another fact noted by the sources, the labor inspectorate was contacted by certain Fongip agents.
Fongip’s communications manager confirmed to the newspaper that there are indeed layoffs. However, he refutes: “the request for explanations is not grounds for dismissal. Agents who recorded days of absence received requests for explanations for which they did not provide supporting documents.”
