A “very structured and ramified” drug import network dismantled

Big raid in the drug scene in . Around fifteen people, including a minor, aged between 16 and 39, were indicted this Friday, notably on charges of “importing narcotics by an organized gang”, “drug trafficking”, “participation in an association of criminals”, and “organized gang money laundering”, announces the public prosecutor of Bordeaux, Frédérique Porterie.

This is the result of a vast operation, organized last Monday in the Bordeaux area. It led to the arrest and placement in police custody of 17 people. This operation mobilized 175 investigators from the Bordeaux police, supported by units from the BRI (Research and Intervention Brigade) and the Raid, and numerous security and intervention crews from the police and the gendarmerie.

“Resale channels via social networks”

A preliminary investigation was opened in April 2023, by the prosecutor's office of the Jirs (Specialized Interregional Jurisdiction) of Bordeaux, “on the basis of information targeting siblings in the Bordeaux area as organizers of vast trafficking importation of narcotics”.

The investigations carried out allowed the identification of “the supposed members of this very structured and branched network, allowing the transport by road of narcotics (herb and cannabis resin, cocaine) into the Bordeaux metropolitan area, then its distribution between wholesalers. , semi-wholesalers, resellers, nannies, using in particular resale channels via social networks,” explains the public prosecutor.

At the same time, a cigarette importation and smuggling network was also brought to light, revealing “a structured laundering circuit of money resulting from trafficking, allowing the latter to pass from clients to the sponsors of the network and abroad “.

“QR code cards to be flashed by customers”

Some thirty-two searches were carried out during the operation on Monday, “leading in particular to the seizure of several handguns and long guns, more than 250,000 euros in cash, 67 kg of cannabis resin, 50 kg of weed of cannabis, and 1.2 kg of cocaine.” Equipment necessary for packaging narcotics, such as sachets, boxes and scales, but also “QR code cards to be flashed by customers extolling the merits of the products”, and two artisanal indoor cultivation of cannabis plants, were also seized.

The police also seized 4,300 cartons of contraband cigarettes, several vehicles, gold jewelry, three Rolex watches, luxury clothing and shoes, as well as multimedia equipment. Among those indicted, ten pre-trial detentions were ordered this Friday.
