and Saudi Arabia sign a strategic partnership agreement

and Saudi Arabia concluded a global strategic partnership agreement on Monday.

The memorandum of understanding to establish a Strategic Partnership Council between the two countries was signed during a three-day state visit by French President Emmanuel Macron to Saudi Arabia.

Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman agreed to expand their cooperation in many sectors, including defense, energy transition, culture and mobility.

Macron and Salman also agreed to collaborate in the preparation of the Action Summit on Artificial Intelligence (AI), scheduled for February 10-11, 2025 in .

“With the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman, we are signing a strategic partnership this evening,” Macron said.

He highlighted their intention to increase collaboration “across all areas.”

The Elysée stressed that the agreement would allow “cooperation and concrete achievements” in various areas.

The main diplomatic discussions also focused on regional tensions in the Middle East.

Both leaders prioritized efforts to defuse conflicts, particularly in Gaza. They jointly pledged to work for an immediate ceasefire, the release of captives, the delivery of humanitarian aid and the search for a political solution based on the two-state solution, indicated the French presidency.

The leaders also pledged to continue diplomatic efforts to consolidate the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.
