Ayib Daffé, president of the Pastef parliamentary group, accuses Farba of slowing down the work of the National Assembly by refusing to give up his place to a deputy, thus compromising respect for parity for the election of the eight vice-presidents.
The dispute is intensifying around the proposal from Aïssata Tall Sall, leader of the Takku Wallu group, who appointed a man in place of a woman. This choice caused an impasse, because the equal composition of the Assembly office requires a strict balance between men and women.
According to Ayib Daffé, the Pastef group, in the majority with 130 deputies, followed the rules by submitting its list first, as provided for in the regulations. The Takku Wallu group, less numerous, had to complete the list with a female candidate to guarantee parity. However, the latter proposed a man, thus creating an imbalance.
Faced with this blockage, the President of the National Assembly suspended the work, asking the Pastef group to propose a female candidate. The session will resume with a vote to elect office members, if no compromise is found.
