Elton John went blind: 'I lost my sight,' pop legend reveals after serious eye infection

After fighting a severe eye infection this summer which had already made him lose the use of his right eye, Elton John revealed this Sunday, December 1, that she had finally completely loses sight. Guest at the premiere of the musical The devil wears Prada at the Dominion Theater in London, the 77-year-old singer spoke about his recent health problems.

“As some of you may know, I've had some issues and now I lost my sight. So I couldn't see the performance but I loved listening to it.”he revealed when he went on stage, as reported by the British press.

“I can't read anything, I can't watch anything”

In an interview given to Good Morning America at the beginning of last week, the pop legend had confirmed having contracted this eye infection in July 2024, while he was spending vacation in the south of France.

“It kind of floored me, and I can’t see anything. I can’t read anything, I can’t watch anything.”he explained, adding that his “left eye [n’était] not at best”. An infection which blocks him from the production of his next album. “I'm a bit stuck at the moment (…) because I can't go to the studio and record”he confided, specifying that he could not read the words.
