The trade deficit worsened by 5.2% to 249.83 billion dirhams (MMDH) during the first ten months of 2024, according to the Foreign Exchange Office.
This development covers an increase in imports of goods (+5.8% to 623.37 billion dirhams) and exports (+6.2% to 373.54 billion dirhams), specifies the Foreign Exchange Office in its recent bulletin on indicators. monthly foreign trade reports, adding that the coverage rate gained 0.2 points to 59.9%.
The increase in imports is explained by the increase in finished equipment products by 11.6% to 145.51 billion dirhams, semi-finished products by 9.1% to 134.81 billion dirhams, finished consumer products by 8 .6% to 144.87 billion dirhams and food products by 3% to 75.47 billion dirhams, combined with the drop in energy products (-5.5% to 95.07 billion dirhams) and gross products (-1.4% to 26.94 billion dirhams). At the same time, the Foreign Exchange Office indicates that aeronautics exports increased by 17.3% to 21.86 billion dirhams, ahead of those of phosphates and derivatives (+12.5% to 68.34 billion dirhams), automobile (+8% to 131.35 billion dirhams), other mining (+3.9% to 4.62 billion dirhams), agriculture and agri-food (+2.9% to MAD 69.76 billion) and electronics and electricity (+2.4% to MAD 15.2 billion).
