The management of Diass Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) was scrutinized as part of the large-scale audit mission carried out by the General State Inspectorate (IGE) on the instructions of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
“As soon as we arrived, six months ago, we wanted to establish a climate of trust on the basis of an audit which would not be biased but cold and without complacency to economic reality,” explains the director general of the AIBD , Cheikh Bamba Dièye.
Taken up by Libération, the former mayor of Saint-Louis points out “among other practices [imputées à l’ancien régime]the recruitments, the trips, the largesse and the laxity which were required.
He continues: “Following this, we made the necessary adjustments, strengthened the budget by readjusting it and adapting it to the resources available on the platform. This work is in progress. The studies have just been finalized.”
Cheikh Bamba Dièye, however, hastens to add that “he did not wait for these studies to be completed to make the corrections which were obvious”. In this wake, he announced that he had “removed 63 billion CFA francs from the investments that were planned and judged, [son] opinions not priority”, among other remedial measures.
