The ladies’ Euro 2025 mascot is a Saint Bernard puppy named Maddli. It was officially presented in Geneva. This name Maddli is a tribute to Madeleine Boll, the pioneer of women’s football in Switzerland. The Valaisanne was the first woman to take a license in 1964 before leaving to play in Italy.
“I have been in sport for sixty years. I never imagined that I would be given this honor”noted the Valaisanne, who exchanged a few passes with Maddli. The former national team playmaker hopes this Euro will be a party that inspires “for many young girls and little kids to play football”.
An avalanche dog, the Saint Bernard is known for its courage in perilous situations and also for the gentleness of its character.
“The energy, passion and love of football that we perceive with Maddli perfectly illustrate the spirit of this Euro and of our beautiful country”welcomes Lara Dickenmann, the tournament ambassador and undoubtedly the greatest player in the history of Swiss football.
