Lausanne continues with an important duel against HC Davos – Lausanne HC

After the fluff throw operation last Sunday, the Lions return to the Vaudoise arena this Thursday, November 28 with the reception of HC Davos at 7:45 p.m. The pre-match is presented to you by our main partner, Vaudoise assurances.

The return of HC Davos to Lausanne

Fans of the LHC and HC Davos necessarily still have in mind this highly contested playoff series between the two teams last season. In seven matches, the protagonists gave everything to try to make their opponents crack both physically and mentally and the show was there. Badly engaged in the series, it was ultimately the men of Geoff Ward who emerged victorious from this opposition to validate their ticket for the semi-finals.

A few months after the end of the playoffs, the two groups made a clean slate of the past to concentrate on this new exercise and try to do better than the previous one. During the first confrontation between the two teams in Graubünden on October 18, the local players won quite easily against our Lions who had just returned from their trip to Finland. A victory which had the merit of marking the minds of the HC Davos players who subsequently had 7 consecutive victories the following week.

For today’s opposition, fatigue management will be reversed. In fact, the men of Josh Holden continue today with a second match in a row after the defeat suffered in overtime at home against HC Ambri-Piotta. The Lions for their part had an extra day to recover from last Tuesday’s heavy defeat against HC Bienne at the Tissot Arena. A match without for the LHC which must ring revolt in the minds of Lausanne. In front of their home crowd, the Lions remain on a good series of 4 victories and are still the best home team in the National League.

Lausanne HC (3ème – 45 points)

  • 24 matches played, 16 victories (including 2 in overtime and 2 on penalties) and 8 defeats (including 1 on penalties)
  • 76 goals scored and 69 goals conceded
  • 29.51% efficiency in powerplay and 82.43% efficiency in boxplay
  • 770 shots taken on goal (9.61% efficiency)
  • 4 shutouts

HC Davos (1er – 47 points)

  • 24 matches played, 16 victories (including 3 in overtime and 1 on penalties) and 8 defeats (including 2 in overtime and 1 on penalties).
  • 79 goals scored and 55 goals conceded
  • 20.37% efficiency in powerplay and 80.28% efficiency in boxplay
  • 678 shots taken on goal (11.50% efficiency)
  • 3 shutouts

Players to follow

The Lions are struggling to regain the consistency that characterized them at the start of the season, particularly defensively. Recent injuries (Andrea Glauser, Nathan Vouardoux, etc.) require Geoff Ward and his staff to mix the usual lines. The pair of Lukas Frick and of Fabian Heldner shows good things, but appears to be AC. The association of Gavin Bayreuther and of David Sklenicka is interesting, but the two men can still do better to guide the Lions to new successes.

In attack, the Vaudois first line worked wonders last Sunday against the SCL Tigers. Jason Fuchs is still looking for his first goal, but the number 14 of the LHC continues to be present to assist his teammates on the ice. Around him, Antti Suomela et Damien Riat want to continue to get closer to the symbolic milestone of 10 goals and their efficiency will certainly be one of the keys to the Lions’ success this evening. Very good in powerplay since the start of the season, the LHC has struggled a little more in recent matches. We have to go back to November 2 to record the last power play goal for Geoff Ward’s men. A period of scarcity which coincides with the unavailability ofAhti Oksanen who is expected to return to competition soon.

HC Davos is going strong in this first part of the season. Just extended, Josh Holden has a complete and quality workforce. After a few adjustments, the balance seems to have been found between the lines and danger can come from anywhere against the Davos players. Speaking of efficiency, the good students are called, Adam Tambellini (24 points, dont 11 buts), Matej Stransky (18 points, including 13 goals) or Philip Zadina (16 points, including 10 goals). As said previously, danger can come from anywhere against HC Davos with eight players currently totaling more than ten points.

On the podium of the best attacks in the National League, Josh Holden’s men also shine thanks to their defensive performances. Excellent since the start of the season, the two foreign defenders Julius Honka (16 points) et Class Dahlbeck (12 points) play their role perfectly within the HC Davos rearguard. The recent contribution of Calle Andersson and of Nico Gross allows Sandro Aeschlimann to count on one of the best defenses in our championship.
