An American sixty-year-old, missing for 25 years, was able to find his family in California (western United States) thanks to an appeal in the press. The man himself did not know who he was when he was admitted to the hospital, but his sister was able to identify him thanks to an article in the newspaper, several American media reported.
The man was admitted to a hospital in Los Angeles, California, but did not speak and could not identify himself. The media were then asked to identify him: “This man is in a Los Angeles hospital, but we have no idea who he is. Can you help us?”we could read in the article.
A friend of his relatives finally recognized the sixty-year-old and informed his family. The sister of the missing man recognized her brother and contacted the police in Lassen County, in northeastern California. The man had been missing since 1999, having last been seen in the village of Doyle in Lassen County.
Fingerprints were taken from the hospitalized man, which confirmed that he was indeed the individual who had been missing for 25 years. The family has asked the media not to reveal his identity.
The man and his loved ones will be reunited in the coming days, the Los Angeles Times said.
