Canadiens: Patrik Laine will travel with the club to Columbus; Mike Matheson injured lower body

While they passed the quarter of their regular season on Tuesday, the Montreal Canadiens could well see winger Patrik Laine play a first game in the coming hours.

The CH declared that the Finnish forward would travel with his teammates for the match played Wednesday evening against his former team, the Columbus Blue Jackets.

This announcement is not so surprising since Laine trained with a “regular” type sweater at the start of the week.

The 26-year-old sniper appears to have completely recovered from the sprained left knee he suffered in a pre-season match on September 28.

Furthermore, shortly before the clash against the Utah Hockey Club, the Canadiens indicated that defenseman Mike Matheson would miss the game due to a lower body injury.

Like Laine, however, Matheson will be on the team’s flight to Ohio over the next few hours.

The Habs have been discreet about the details of No. 8’s injury, but Martin St-Louis was reassuring by saying that he “is not worried” during an interview with our analyst Marc Denis during the meeting. .

We therefore assume that the 30-year-old Montreal guard’s health problems will not keep him away from the game for long.

Jayden Struble was thus inserted into the lineup for Tuesday evening’s game. The defender also scored the Habs’ first goal in the match to create a 1-1 tie. The Canadians finally fell 3 to 2 in overtime.

In 20 games this season, Matheson has been limited to one goal, but he has 12 assists to his name.
