A man armed with knives shot dead by police in Saint-Étienne

The man threatened a woman with two knives.

According to information from France Bleu Saint-Étienne Loire, the man threatened a woman with two knives near the Loire prefecture in Saint-Étienne. Several municipal police officers then intervened and used their weapons to neutralize him. The man was shot dead late in the afternoon on rue Charles de Gaulle near the “Grand Gonnet” tram stop in Saint-Etienne.

At the scene, witnesses say they heard gunshots. The public prosecutor specifies that the investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the facts. The area was closed off and tram traffic stopped.
