Entangled in a multi-billion FCFA affair, Samuel Sarr’s counterattack

Convinced that his partners are trying to bog him down in legal intricacies, Samuel Sarr, far from giving in, has opted for a muscular response. Relying on his lawyer, Me Baboucar Cissé, he adopted an uncompromising strategy, inspired by the well-known “gatsa-gatsa” method. The Senegalese businessman and former Minister of Energy under President Abdoulaye Wade announces a series of complaints, according to L’Observateur which relays the information.

The first concerns a charge of usurpation of title filed against businessman Moustapha Ndiaye. According to Samuel Sarr, the latter has no longer been chairman of the board of directors (PCA) of West African Energy since February 3, 2024. On that date, he would have been replaced by the former general director of Senelec, Papa Demba Biteye , who, in turn, ceded this function to the current boss of the company, Papa Toby Gaye.

But Samuel Sarr does not stop there. His complaints also target other actors whom he accuses of forgery and use of forgery in private writing and of criminal association. Among those implicated are the auditor Makha Sy, Abdoulaye Dia of the Senico company, and Tahirou Mbaye, representative of the Mazars firm. With this counter-offensive, Samuel Sarr seems to want not only to defend his position, but also to regain control in a standoff where each party claims its legitimacy. It remains to be seen whether this legal escalation will make it possible to untangle the knots of a dispute where financial and strategic issues mingle with personal ambitions.
