NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte expressed his enthusiasm to meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to discuss various issues relating to collective security. Topics covered include the threat of terrorism, the war in Ukraine and tensions in the Middle East.
In a statement on Monday, Rutte highlighted the important role of Türkiye within the Alliance. “In an increasingly unpredictable world, Türkiye makes an invaluable contribution to our Alliance,” he said. He also highlighted the military potential of Türkiye, describing it as “a strong and committed ally for more than 70 years”.
During his visit, Rutte is scheduled to meet not only President Erdogan, but also Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and National Defense Minister Yasar Güler. This official visit also includes a meeting with representatives of the Turkish defense industry and a tour of the facilities of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS).
This meeting highlights strengthening relations within NATO, at a time when regional and global stability faces considerable challenges.
