The one who prevented the transfer of Fanaye

As soon as it was known, the news had the effect of a bomb throughout the entire department and even throughout Senegal where her photo was displayed on the status of all those who had known her or had just heard of her and what she accomplished during her short but rich life. Aissata Astel Sall died in following a long illness that left her bedridden.

Djiby M’Baye, former mayor of the commune of Pété who knows it well, confides to us on the telephone the role that the honorable deputy Astel Sall played so that the then rural community of Fanaye did not escape the department of Podor to be attached to that of Dagana. We were around 2010-2011.

The Italian company Senhuile-Senethanol was considering heavy investments in this rural community of Fanaye. This had aroused desire on the part of an important personality and political executive of the Wade regime at the time, a dignitary from Dagana, who undertook everything to attach Fanaye to his department.

Informed of this, the deputy of Podor used her connections and all her influence to thwart this attempt which would reduce the department of Podor of a good part of its surface area. She immediately contacted her uncle Djiby M’Baye who went directly to meet Thierno Madany Tall.

Informed of the seriousness of the situation with incalculable consequences. The Caliph of the Omarian family immediately called the President of the Republic Abdoulaye Wade. The latter demanded an immediate end to such a project. It is therefore this lady who was useful to her community and to her department who left everyone behind by going to the Beyond.

Former ministers, general directors and chairmen of boards of directors, local elected officials, department executives, development actors, parents, friends and faithful all unanimously on their Facebook pages, saluted “an exemplary woman of great value “.
