A child allegedly received a bag of treats containing a sharp object during the traditional Santa Claus parade in Sherbrooke on Sunday.
It was a spectator who called out to the police officers present on site to report that a child had just received treats, and that the bag given possibly contained a sharp object, explained the police department of the city of Sherbrooke (SPS) , in a press release.
“We would like to advise those present during the parade that if they received treats from two ladies aged around 50, to carefully check the bag of treats,” said the SPS.
The suspects were in the crowd in the area of King Street East and 14e avenue, added the police, specifying that they were not part of the parade. They carried their treats in a yellow and red reusable bag.
The police say they take this report “very seriously” and a criminal investigation has been opened.
