Aboul Gheit calls for a roadmap for sustainable development in the Arab region

Speaking on the occasion of the 5th edition of the Arab Sustainable Development Week under the theme “Sustainable Solutions for a Better Future: Resilience and Adaptability in a Changing Arab World”, Mr. Aboul Gheit noted that this sheet of road is expected to have a tangible impact on improving the living conditions of Arab citizens.

The Arab region has not yet reached an advanced level in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), he said, noting that the time has come to accelerate the pace of action and strengthen the ability to adapt to multiple changes. According to the SG of the Arab League, current challenges require constant adaptation to changes and flexibility in adjusting plans and priorities for countries in the region.

For his part, the World Bank’s director of operations for Egypt, Yemen, Djibouti, the Middle East and North Africa, Stéphane Guimbert, stressed the importance of investing in climate action to the future and maintain sustainability for the good of the planet, deeming it necessary to involve young people in the Arab region in sustainable development plans.

In this regard, he assured that the World Bank Group is working with all governments and various partnerships to support the development of clear visions and good policies to mobilize the private sector and provide the necessary financing for development plans. sustainable in the region.

Mohamed Nouri, from the Moroccan Embassy in Cairo, represents Morocco at the Arab Sustainable Development Week, organized in cooperation with the United Nations, the European Union and the World Bank. This fifth edition is marked by the participation of representatives of governments, the private sector, civil society organizations, academic circles and young people involved in the field of development.
