Jon and Carrie Hallford, owners of a funeral home in Colorado in the United States, were arrested by the police who discovered 191 decomposing bodies at their home, which had never been buried, reports ABC News this Friday November 22.
The macabre discovery was made possible by neighbors who had reported a permanent bad smell to the sheriff, in October 2023. The couple allegedly ran a scam for nearly four years, allowing them to pocket nearly $130,000 by carrying out false burials and false cremations. He also revealed that he had committed fraud during Covid-19, receiving nearly $800,000 in aid.

“A huge ordeal” for families
The two business leaders pleaded guilty to 191 counts of abuse of a corpse. We will have to wait until April 18, 2025 to learn their sentence. Carie Hallford faces between fifteen and twenty years in prison and her husband twenty years.
