The court in Foggia, Italy, handed down heavy sentences on Friday against five young men involved in the savage attack on a Moroccan national. The events, which date back to June 24, 2023, took place on Place Mercato, a place known for its nocturnal gatherings.
Nour-Eddine E., aged 39, was attacked by the group, beaten and robbed of his possessions, a silver chain and a cap. The relentlessness of the attackers, who continued to hit their victim while she was lying unconscious on the ground, and the humiliation inflicted by putting out a cigarette on her body, led the courts to classify her as attempted murder.

In the details of the sentences, AP, 20 years old, considered the main instigator, received 14 years in prison. His two accomplices, LC and M. G., aged 20 and 21 respectively, were sentenced to 11 years and 4 months and 10 years in prison. The court granted the three defendants a one-third sentence reduction, taking into account their choice of an accelerated trial procedure.
Two other individuals, minors at the time of the events, were also involved in this affair. Initially sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment at first instance, their sentence was reduced to 8 years on appeal.
In addition to the incarceration sentences, the courts awarded damages to Nour-Eddine.E, who had become a civil party.
