Sidney Crosby reaches 600 goals

Sidney Crosby scored against the Utah team on Saturday, and the captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins at the same time reached the plateau of 600 goals in the National Hockey League (NHL). He is the 21st player to accomplish the feat.

Crosby scored on a one-timer following a pass from defenseman Erik Karlsson during a five-on-three power play.

I had the opportunity to be able to break through some of these big plateaus here at home, to have my family and to be able to do it in front of my audience. I think it’s even more special to be able to do it at home.

A quote from Sidney Crosby, captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins

After the goal was announced, the crowd in Pittsburgh gave Crosby a standing ovation, then the center saluted the fans and raised his stick in the air.

The Penguins, however, were defeated 6-1 by the Utah club.

It’s obviously not pleasant, admitted Crosby after his team’s 14th defeat in 18 games. I thought we hit our stride and were doing good things, but Utah scored shortly after. We were still in the match despite everything, but it got ruined later.

The 37-year-old striker scored his 8th goal of this season in his 23rd match. He also recorded 13 assists for a total of 21 points so far.

Crosby twice won the Maurice Richard Trophy, awarded to the NHL’s top scorer. He first scored 51 goals in 2009-2010, a peak shared with Steven Stamkos, then he obtained the honor again with a harvest of 44 goals in 2016-2017.

Selected first overall in the 2005 draft, the veteran of 20 seasons in the Bettman circuit lifted the Stanley Cup three times during a career rich in both personal and collective accomplishments.
