Tourism: Morocco wants to speed up Moscow-Casablanca-Agadir connections

Morocco has put in place a plan to revive Russian tourism in Agadir with several measures intended to improve the services offered to Russian tourists, facilitate access to flights and strengthen the promotion of the destination. Saïed Amzazi, president of the Souss-Massa region and the city of Agadir, announced these initiatives during an official reception organized for participants in a study tour, in collaboration with the company Royal Air Maroc and the regional tourism council.

Among the key proposals, the governor mentioned the training of hotel staff in the Russian language in order to make welcoming Russian tourists more comfortable, stressing that “this initiative aims to make Russian a common language in hotel establishments of all categories.”

At the same time, discussions are underway to reduce the connection time in Casablanca for flights from Moscow, a measure to improve the fluidity of journeys to Agadir, where the number of Russian tourists fell this summer due to the absence of direct flights. Saïed Amzazi clarified that although direct flights remain a priority, the immediate objective is to make connections more efficient, by reducing waiting times.

The Souss region is also working on the reopening of Morocco’s tourism office in Moscow in 2025 in order to stimulate tourism demand and restore flows that prevailed before the 2020 pandemic.

The authorities hope that these efforts will make it possible to restore the former level of Russian tourist numbers in Agadir in the coming years. Local tour operators are optimistic, stressing that these measures could stimulate demand and revitalize the Russian tourism market in Morocco.
