An answering machine and really useful new features for Messenger

Messenger adds a lot of new features, and unlike what sometimes happens with app updates, some of them are really useful! This is the case with the answering machine.

The most obvious things sometimes take a long time to happen. This is the case of the audio and video responder which appeared in Messenger. The messaging of Meta now allows you to leave a short note for your correspondent if the latter was unable to answer the call. To leave a message, the user will need to tap a record button.

Apple introduced this answering machine feature last year on FaceTime for video calls. But Meta didn’t stop there!

Another equally important new feature: video calls now benefit from a surrounding noise suppression and voice isolation function. Enough to improve the quality of phone calls… The HD video calling option is activated by default for Wi-Fi calls. Calls via the 4G or 5G cellular network can also benefit from it, but you will need to activate the function first in the settings.

During video calls, Messenger allows you to add a background image; the novelty of the day is that it is possible to generate a visual using generative AI, because obviously why not. Simply describe the desired image in a text query.

On iOS, Messenger can now communicate with Siri, which allows you to use the app in “hands-free” mode. Just ask the assistant to send a message to a contact “ with Messenger”, and with a little luck — which is never wasted with Siri — it does the task.
