LThe documentary will be presented as part of section 11e Continent of the festival, specifies the press release. This section, renowned for its avant-garde programming, “presents daring and innovative films that shake up cinematic representations”.
The film offers an intimate dive into the world of the legendary singer. “Through intimate memoirs, moving letters and never-before-seen images, he transports us into the world of Callas, from his humble beginnings in New York to his triumph on world stages”, underlines the press release.
The work establishes a dialogue between two eras: that of Maria Callas’s heyday and our contemporary era, where her influence continues to resonate. More than a simple documentary, the film highlights a unique artistic encounter between two exceptional personalities. As the press release specifies, it is a “essential dialogue between two women — Callas and Bellucci — who, despite different paths, come together in their devotion to art”.
Festival-goers will be able to discover this work on Sunday 1is December at 5 p.m. at the Auditorium of the Yves Saint Laurent Museum. The screening will be followed by a conversation with Monica Bellucci in the presence of director Yannis Dimolitsas.
The Marrakech International Film Festival will take place from November 29 to December 7, 2024, offering film fans the opportunity to participate in this major cultural event which continues to enrich the international cinematic landscape.
