The black streak of data theft from major brands continues. The Auchan distributor was “victim of a cyber attack” targeting data from hundreds of thousands of customers” holders of a loyalty account, the group told franceinfo on Tuesday, November 19. These data concern “last name, first name, email address, postal address, telephone number, family composition if provided, date of birth, loyalty card number and amount of the loyalty kitty”specified a spokesperson to AFP.

Banking data or passwords were not stolen, the company assures franceinfo. Mais Auchan invites its customers “with the greatest vigilance to the risk of fraudulent emails, SMS or calls”. The brand ensures that “the incident was contained very quickly” and that “Additional security measures have been put in place”without specifying which ones. A complaint was filed with the National Commission for Information Technology and Liberties (Cnil), as required by law.

Several stores and services have been victims of data leaks in recent months. Customer data from Truffaut, Boulanger and Cultura were recently stolen. At the end of October, the operator Free was the victim of a major cyberattack.
