Accident at the Cime Caron cable car in Val Thorens: six injured, including two serious

This Tuesday, November 19, around 7:30 a.m., an accident occurred at the Cime Caron cable car in the Val Thorens area, at more than 3,000 meters above sea level. In very difficult weather conditions, a cable car cabin which was being used as part of ongoing construction collided with the arrival station.

Of the sixteen workers present in the cabin, six people were injured, two of them seriously. One was airlifted to the Grenoble University Hospital and the other to the Chambéry hospital center. Their vital prognosis is not in jeopardy. The prefect of Savoie, François Ravier, activated his crisis management cell, the departmental operational center, and the numerous victims plan (NOVI), in order to coordinate the emergency services, in link with the mayors of the municipalities concerned.

Significant resources from the departmental fire and rescue service and the Savoie Samu are committed to caring for the victims.
