Ex-massage therapist at SkySpa guilty of sexual assault on three clients

Three clients who went to the SkySpa in Brossard for a relaxation massage instead had to deal with a sexual attacker, who admitted on Monday to having exposed their buttocks during the treatment in addition to intensively massaging certain private parts.

Bogdan Doev used the same modus operandi on all three women. During the treatment, the 56-year-old massage therapist lowered the sheets and even their underwear under their buttocks and then massaged this area intensely. He used way too much massage oil.

In the space of just two months in the summer of 2021, Doev killed three people in this urban spa in Montérégie. At that point, the Montrealer had been practicing for about four years.

For his pleasure

The clients who were lying on his table also all noticed his deep and intense breathing, “as if he was sexually excited,” summarized the Crown prosecutor, Ms.e Anne Gauvin, Monday morning at the Longueuil courthouse.

Bogdan Doev also stripped the upper body of a young woman and then massaged her chest and abdomen for a few minutes. At the end of the massage, she noticed that he had an erection. According to another of his victims, he did this “for his own personal pleasure.”

Completely uncomfortable

Looking shyly at the ground, Bogdan Doev pleaded guilty Monday to three charges of sexual assault.

Even though he was acquitted on a fourth count, another complainant believes he had an orgasm during the massage. The court may take these facts into consideration to impose the sentence.

The touching had repercussions on the women, who felt uncomfortable and anxious. One of them froze, she was stressed and nervous. Another was embarrassed and even intimidated. Their identity is protected by a publication ban.

In July 2021, one of the complainants denounced the massage therapist in a publication on social networks, which made it possible to find other victims. At that time, the president of the SkySpa group, Patrick Rake, assured that he had immediately terminated the contract with the professional.
