everything you need to know to receive this aid paid in December

When will the 2024 Christmas bonus be paid? The question has not yet been resolved according to the Family Allowance Fund (CAF). Last year, the transfer was made to the beneficiaries on December 15. This year it's a Sunday… So it could be Friday December 13th or Monday December 16th. While waiting for the final decision, here is everything you need to know about this welcome boost during the holiday season.

Who gets the Christmas bonus?

For several years, the number of beneficiaries has not changed. 2.3 million French households receive the Christmas bonus. Unless the criteria are broadened in 2024, this should remain stable.

Who pays the Christmas bonus?

The Christmas bonus is paid by the Family Allowance Fund (CAF), the Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA) or Pôle emploi to its beneficiaries. The bonus is paid automatically, without any action.

How much is the Christmas bonus?

Unless there is a government boost – the last one was in 2008 – the amounts do not change. The amount depends on the composition of your household and your income. For example, if you receive the RSA, the amount ranges from €152 to €535. Another example, a couple with 4 children will receive €442.10, or 120 more than a couple with two children.

For the two other social minimums (ASS and AER), the amount of the bonus is fixed (€152.45), like the aid paid by Travail.

In 2023, the government opted for an exceptional increase of 35% for single-parent families.

Good news, this amount is not taxable.

Who is excluded from the Christmas bonus?

Each year, beneficiaries of the disabled adult allowance (AAH) claim the right to receive the Christmas bonus, without success because the amount of the AAH is too high in relation to the income thresholds used for the bonus. Retirees are also excluded from the Christmas bonus.
