The Jewish Information and Documentation Center (JID), a non-profit organization that fights against anti-Semitism, claims that a Brussels youth hostel managed by youth hostel operator Hi Flanders discriminates against Israeli tourists.
An employee who made it known that Israeli customers were not welcome has since been fired, according to commercial television channel VTM.
According to the JID, an Israeli tourist’s reservation was canceled on the grounds that the hostel “does not accept people who commit crimes against humanity.” In a press release, the non-profit organization announced legal action and called on people who have had similar experiences to come forward. “This is not at all what we stand for as an organization”reacted Paul Biliet, director of Hi Flanders, interviewed by VTM NEWS.
The organization contacted the affected guest and informed them that they and other guests remained welcome, it added.
