Hungary beat Scotland at the end of added time (1-0), Sunday in Stuttgart, and retains the hope of qualifying for the round of 16 of Euro 2024, by finishing among the best thirds in the phase of groups.
Beyond the result and its consequences, perhaps fortunate for the Hungarians, the meeting was marked by the exit on a stretcher and in a very worrying state of the Hungarian Barnabas Varga, after an aerial collision in the 68th minute. On a Hungarian free kick in the 68th minute, the 29-year-old fell violently on the back of his neck and was immediately placed in a side safety position by his teammates as he appeared unable to move.
After a few seconds of hesitation, the emergency services finally intervened to evacuate him from the field to applause, after his partners, very touched by the scene, formed a circle around him by unrolling a brown sheet.
The rescuers sheltered the unfortunate Barnabas Varga from view.

The Hungarians were able to remobilize
After this incident, the Hungarians were nevertheless able to remobilize and threw their last strength into the battle, creating several chances, one of which ended up on the post, after a slightly too cross shot from Kevin Csoboth.
But it was this same Csoboth who managed to free the Magyars, by victoriously taking a back pass on a final counter-attack concluded in the 10th minute of stoppage time.
This victory gives them 3 points and allows them to dream of the round of 16, which the Scots, last in group A, will not see, still unable to reach this stage of an international competition.
