The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) has been carrying out an operation in the Portneuf sector since Thursday morning with the aim of dismantling a criminal organization involved in the production and distribution of illicit cannabis.
At the time of writing, four people had already been “arrested” by the police and they will be met by investigators during the day.
They are two women aged 26 and 32 respectively, as well as two men aged 32.
Searches were also carried out in residences in Donnacona and Cap-Santé, in a business in Portneuf and in a warehouse in Donnacona. A vehicle was also searched by authorities.
The Quebec City Police Department is also assisting in this matter.
“The operation mobilizes around thirty police officers, including investigators, technicians from the Forensic Identification Service and dog handlers,” the provincial police force said in a press release.
The operation mainly targets the production of illicit cannabis, but other substances could also be discovered. A report will be released later in the day.
