It is confirmed: the scrappage bonus will be stopped on December 31, 2024. To this will be added a reduction in the ecological bonus in 2025. You must therefore place an order as quickly as possible to benefit from maximum aid for purchase !
This was mentioned a few weeks ago by Les Échos, this time it was confirmed by a Bercy spokesperson to Le Figaro: the government will put an end to the scrappage bonus. As a reminder, the State pays a bonus to those who get rid of an old vehicle (a gasoline before 2006 or a diesel before 2011).
The envelope allocated to aid for the purchase of cars will be significantly reduced in 2025. For the current year, the finance law provided for a budget of 1.5 billion euros (which will ultimately be exceeded). In 2025, the government plans to grant one billion euros.
As a result, a selection is made of the aid in place, with currently three systems in existence: the ecological bonus, social leasing and the scrappage bonus. It is therefore the latter which goes by the wayside. A choice made easier by the fact that it has become the least “expensive” system, the amounts granted having been reduced in recent years, as has the number of motorists able to benefit from it. The richest are completely excluded.
But for others, the boost is still significant. With an electric vehicle, the aid is €1,500 (up to a reference tax income per share of €24,900). Above all, when you are under €7,100 or between €7,100 and €15,400 if you are a heavy roller*, you have €5,000!
€5,000 less is no small thing! Especially since to this will be added a reduction in the ecological bonus. If this is well maintained in 2025, the amounts paid will be reduced. We do not yet know to what extent. But whatever happens, the accumulation of possible aid will completely melt away in 2025.
If you are considering purchasing a new car that may allow you to obtain a bonus and/or a scrappage bonus, you should no longer hesitate. You must place an order before December 31, 2024. For delivery, the State has always granted a deadline, most often three months. We should therefore benefit from the 2024 aid with delivery until March 31, 2025. But if the vehicle is not in stock, you should not hang around, that's barely more than four months of margin now.
